6 French films are nominated for the Oscar for the best animated film including Le Petit Prince. In total, 27 films (a record) are in competition, according to the Academy of Arts and Sciences of the cinema, which awards the prestigious statuettes.

Co-produced by the French company ON Entertainment and directed by Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda), Le Petit Prince, adapted from the poetic novel by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, is the biggest international success in 20 years of Hexagonal animation. He has already received the César for best animated film and was screened out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
