An undisputed international success

The Little Prince Graphic Novel continues his Journey and arrives in Turkey.

Joann Sfar’s adaptation of the Little Prince as a graphic novel is still taking the continents by storm. After selling over 100,000 copies barely 6 months after it was first published in France, the album is now being translated into Turkish by Saadet Özen. It will be the rekindling of an old friendship between the Little Prince and Turkey, where the first edition of the tale was published in the early 1950s.

Forever associated with the memory of the writer and aviator, the city of Toulouse is hosting a series of events linked to Saint-Exupéry and his work, entitled « les Journées Pique La Lune*… in the steps of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry ». On 14 and 15 March, a wall on the Avenue Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was decorated with a fresco showing Saint-Exupéry and his Little Prince. The event was the brainchild of the residents\’ association and MJC (youth and culture club) of the Quartier du Pont des Demoiselles in Toulouse. Slam sessions, readings based on Saint-Exupéry\’s work and an exhibition of children\’s drawings and mobiles of the Aéropostale aircraft all added to the excitement of the two-day festival. Next on the agenda, the fresco will be officially inaugurated on 23 April.

* Pique la Lune was Saint-Exupéry\’s nickname, in honour of his turned-up nose and also his occasional forgetfulness: to be « dans la lune » = wool-gathering.
